Ethical cooperation with integrity
Our participatory governance
Alsace Lait is an independent dairy cooperative. Its mission is to bring milk producers together with the aim of collectively adding value to their milk production, which is collected and processed at the Hoerdt dairy. Every producer takes part in the governance of the Cooperative according to the principle of '1 person = 1 vote'.
The Chairman of the Alsace Lait Cooperative comes from the farming world and works in tandem with the Managing Director. Both of them chair the Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors is involved in the management of the Alsace Lait Cooperative: it takes the company's major decisions, is involved in managing the milk processing site at Hoerdt, and approves investments made to optimise production facilities and support the improvement and creation of new products.
Our strong regional roots
Our Cooperative is deeply rooted in the Alsace region, a bond that is at the heart of our identity at every level of our business:
- In our Alsace dairy industry which is built on over a century of expertise and provides a living for more than 800 families
- In our products, with recipes that are the centrepiece of Alsatian culinary culture
- In our involvement in local events, associations and solidarity actions
In addition, we are developing exceptional partnerships with local players:
- The Colin Group for our cheese spread with Alsace garlic and herbs
- Pierre Schmidt with a shared-brand tarte flambée topping
- The illustration on our bibeleskaes Christmas desserts with the character Lovely Elsa © by artist Jean Beaumelin.
- The Savourez l'Alsace© logo, which appears on our products and identifies products made in Alsace using local know-how.
- And many more partnerships in the pipeline...
Finally, with strong links built up over decades with its consumers in Alsace, our Alsace Lait Cooperative is working to raise the profile of Alsace and its gourmet products by developing its distribution beyond the Alsace region.
Our code of conduct
This is a guide for all Alsace Lait employees to help them take ownership of our vision, our values and the behaviours that stem from them in our daily working life. The principles described in this code are mainly based on common sense, which makes it an important reference that each of our employees must understand, apply and enforce, whatever their position, role or job in our organisation.
The Board of Directors, the Steering Committee and the entire management team ensure that this code and its principles are respected in all our activities.
Our responsible purchasing policy
Sustainable purchasing goes beyond the purchasing action itself to encompass all levels of our supply chain. In this way, we work hand in hand with our suppliers to develop solutions that meet the standards and commitments we uphold.
This collaboration also enables better control of products throughout the supply chain, thanks to greater transparency and traceability.
Our Cooperative has the Alsace Excellence label
The Alsace Excellence label confirms our commitments, not only from a strategic point of view, but also because we firmly believe in our responsibility towards our community and our environment. We were awarded this label in 2023 by ADIRA, the Alsace Development Agency, and it recognises our contribution to promoting the excellence, attractiveness and competitiveness of the Alsace region through our commitment to sustainable development.
This distinction is a source of pride for all our employees and producers.
